Oscar Predictions: Rebekah's Picks

With the Academy Awards only days away, thanks to the end of the WGA strike, I shall now share my thoughts on who should win and who will win the lovely, golden statuettes. By the way...these are the correct predictions. ^_^

Leading Actor
Should Win: Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd
Will Win: Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
EXPLANATION: Johnny Depp has forever been denied his well-deserved gold. And with Sweeney, the masterful Depp brought depth to an otherwise despicable character. However, Day-Lewis has swept other awards, including the SAGs, Golden Globes, and Broadcast Film Critics.

Supporting Actor
Should Win: Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
Will Win: Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men

Leading Actress
Should Win: Ellen Page, Juno
Will Win: Julie Christie, Away From Her
EXPLANATION: Ellen may have captured audience's hearts, but her performance could be seen as too exaggerated. In this race, Christie's understated performance will prevail.
Write-in: Amy Adams from Enchanted. Yes, I know, I am seriously dreaming here.

Supporting Actress
Should Win: Cate Blanchett, I'm Not There
Will Win: Tilda Swinton, Michael Clayton

Will Win: "Falling Slowly" (Once)

Best Picture
Should Win: Juno
Will Win: No Country for Old Men
Write-In: 3:10 To Yuma, (which was horrendously snubbed from major catagories) or the delightful Enchanted (Honestly, the gorgeous Patrick Dempsey & James Marsden in the same film? Give the casting director a goshdarn Oscar!!)

Oscar Predictions: Chuck's Picks

The Oscar's are coming up soon. For a complete list of nominees, you can click here. But to make things a little more interesting, I teamed up with our Opinion Editor, Rebekah, to make predictions on who will win and who should win. My take is posted below, and Rebekah's will be coming shortly. And better yet, when the Oscars are said and done, we'll post who got the most right and who was completely wrong.

Leading Actor
Should Win: Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
Will Win: George Clooney, Michael Clayton
EXPLANATION: I think Michael Clayton will be a surprise winner and take a lot of people by shock in a lot of categories. It is politically charged and a Clooney film. It is Oscar gold.

Will Win: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Charlie Wilson's War

Leading Actress
Should Win: Ellen Page, Juno
Will Win: Laura Linney, The Savages
